Definition of Nordic Mythology

Norse mythology is made up of a set of adventures and legends from Scandinavian ; starring numerous gods, among the best known: Odin , Loki , Freya and Freyr . Those supernatural beings are characterized by complex and not necessarily edifying personalities.

Odin

Odin was the supreme god, father of all men and of many gods .He was the god of both wisdom and war. He gave an eye in pledge on exchange for the wisdom of Mimer's well .When he salt on his throne Lidskjavl, He saw everything that happened in the world

Thor

Son of Odin and Frigg,Thor was the god of thunder and lightning, as well as champion of the human race of Midgard, which he defended from all the evils present in the Nine Reams .In his most classic form he is depicted as a middle-aged man with a red beard and enormous strenght.

Freya

Freyja is described as the goddess of love beauty and fertility .She was also invoked to obtain happiness in love, to asssist in childbirth and to have good seasons, She was also associated with war , death, magic, prophecy and wealth

Loki

Loki is the trickster god of Norse mythology, is described as the "origin of all fraud" and mingled with the gods freely becoming regarded by Odin as his brother until the murder of Baldr, Odin's second son.

Freyr

He was the god of rain, the rising sun and fertility.He is one of Vair, whoin live in Vanaheim .Lord of Vegetation,Fryr possessed the summarbrander (the "Sword of summer" , witch could move and fight alone in the air), but he abandoned it to conquer Gerda a virgin giantess.

Symology

Valknut

The Valknut symbol is a viking symbol of great significance consisting of three interlocking triangles.The word Valknut is formed from the union of the terms vair and knut, which mean respectively "soldier fallen in battel " and "knot".

Gungnir

The sybol Gungnir represent the spear of Odin known by the same name .This spear was made by the dwarves and given by the god Loki to Odin.

Vegvístir

The Vegvísir also known as the Viking compass, is a symbol that was used by the Vikings as a navigational aid.

Aegishjalmur

The Aegishjalmur , also known as the Spell of Terror . It is said that Viking warriors wore this symobol on their foreheads, like a third eye , to grant them invincibility

Triple horn of Odin

The triple horn of Odin is a sybol related to the god Odin that has a certain similarity with the sybol of the triquet due to its triple symmetry .This symbol is formed by three horns that the Vikings used to drink
