The Westminster Abbey:

built between 1045 and 1050

The Westminster palace:

1016-1097 built first 1987 UNESCO

It's the building in London where the two houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom are located (the House of Lords and the House of Commons). located on the left bank of the River Thames, in the City of Westminster

Palace's History:

1834

-Designated as a Grade I listed building since 1970

another significant fire in 1834, which destroyed most of the palace

-Initially serving as the primary royal residence

until a fire in 1512...it continued as the home of the Parliament of England.

Abbey's History:

the architect Charles Barry rebuilt it in Gothic style, helped by Augustus Pugin, a Gothic architecture authority

Was built between 1045 and 1050 by Edward the Confessor

The replacement palace incorporated the surviving remains of the old palace.

which started the construction to keep faith with a vow he had made while still in exile in Normandy:
He couldn't keep faith to the vow though due to his podition, so the pope transformed it into a commitment to build a monastery to Saint Peter...
if his family had regained the throne of England he would make a pilgrimage to Rome.

Charles Barry's design for the Palace of Westminster represents a collaborative effort that blends the Perpendicular Gothic style, popular in the 15th century, with elements of the Gothic revival that emerged in the 19th century
°Abbey:
It has three naves, and many typical elements that refer to Gothic architecture and style.

It has a Latin cross plan, with a length of 156 meters and an overall width of 34 metres; the vault of the central nave, dating back to 1506, reaches a height of 32 metres.The height of the building is supported with two tiers of flying buttresses.
