El marketing social es una estrategia que se encarga tanto de mejorar la presencia de la marca, su rentabilidad y escalabilidad como de ayudar a la sociedad. Todo esto se logra a través de la promoción de productos y servicios sustentables y solidarios con el medio ambiente.
El Marketing Social surgió en la década del 70, cuando Philip Kotler y Gerald Zaltman notaron que los principios del marketing tradicional podrían también utilizarse para causas sociales. Llegaron a la conclusión de que, así como se vendían productos, podrían también venderse actitudes, ideas y comportamientos.
