Types of sentences
There are 4 types of main sentences: Simple sentence: consists of just 1 simple clause, for example: I kicked the ball Compound sentence: consists of 2 or more clauses, for example: I threw a pen and it hit Tom Complex sentences: has 1 independent clause and 1 or more dependent clauses, for example: The baby cried because he is hungry Compound-complex sentences: 2 or more independent clauses and 1 or more dependent clauses, for example: John got mad because he lost his pencil, and i lend mine to him inmediatly.
Body part idioms
Idioms used to express something using body parts in them. For example:
- See eye to eye: Agree with something or someone.
- Sweet tooth: To really like sweets or candy.
- Give someone the cold shoulder: To ignore or snub someone you know.
- Fall on your knees: To show respect or gratitude.
Reported Speech
The action of telling someone something other person has said before. For example: Direct speech: soccer is my thing - Reported speech: He said that soccer was his thing Direct speech: Amy is living in London - Reported speech: They said that she was living in London
Indirect questions
This are questions hidden in a statement: For example: "sit down please" .He asked them to sit down.
