St. George's Cathedral

At the beginning of the 19th century, as more and more British people decided to emigrate and settle in the Cape Colony, it still did not have any Anglican places of worship. While waiting for the creation of a parish of their own, religious services were celebrated in the Groote kerk ("big church" in Afrikaans) mainly dedicated to the worship of the Dutch Reformed Church.
