The Spanish conquest and colonization of Argentina took place between the 16th century and the beginning of the 19th century, in which a part of the current territory of Argentina was conquered and colonized by the Spanish Empire. In this period the expression Argentina (country of silver) appears for the first time to refer to an area without defined limits that extended from the Río de la Plata to the northwest. The period also includes the arrival for the first time of Spaniards to various areas of current Argentine territory, at which time in many cases they adopted the name with which the indigenous peoples already called that region and in others they designated them with new names.

Meanings of their colors :
The colors of the Argentine flag coincide with the colors of the dresses of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, traditionally albiceleste, as a symbol precisely of heaven. Likewise, sky blue and white were the colors that identified the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order Carlos III, the most appreciated by the Bourbons, which also has an image of the Virgin Mary in its dedication to the Immaculate Conception.

Day of sovereignty
The battle of the Vuelta de Obligado, in 1845, marked a milestone for which, every November 20, the Day of National Sovereignty is commemorated and celebrated. That day, Argentine soldiers repelled the invasion of the Anglo-French army, which intended to colonize the territories of our country. But the Government of Juan Manuel de Rosas, supported from exile by General José de San Martín, prepared a resistance and prevented it. The invading forces sought to enter through the Paraná. However, the national troops, under the command of Lucio Mansilla, went ahead in a narrow bend of that river: the Vuelta de Obligado, in the Buenos Aires district of San Pedro. The number of enemy forces far exceeded the Argentine forces in quantity and modernity of their weapons, but they were not intimidated and fought for seven hours. In this way, they managed to prevent the opposing troops from occupying the coasts, a necessary objective to be able to enter Argentine territory. Resistance to foreign invasion achieved the defense of the country in terms of borders and trade, since foreign products were prevented from being placed on the market, displacing local items. The event served to ratify and guarantee national sovereignty, involved the signing of a peace treaty between Argentina, France and Great Britain, and was recorded in history as a symbol of independence, freedom and national unity.

Day of the Memory, True and Justice
The National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice is one of the darkest days in Argentina since it commemorates the victims of the last military dictatorship, self-proclaimed "National Reorganization Process", which usurped the government of the Argentine national State between on March 24, 1976 and December 10, 1983. The objective is to collectively build a day of reflection and critical analysis of recent history. In schools, it is proposed as a day for children and young people, together with managers, teachers and all members of the educational and local community to understand the scope of the serious economic, social and political consequences of the last military dictatorship and are actively committed to defending the validity of the rights and guarantees established by the National Constitution, and the democratic political regime. The date was established in 2002 by National Law 25,633, whose article 1 establishes: “March 24 be established as the National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice in commemoration of those who were victims of the process initiated on that date.” from the year 1976.
