As a consequence of being stalked, victims can experience anxiety, depression, nightmares, sleep disturbance, and memory lapses, among many other emotional and physical symptoms. Stalking can also cause financial losses(Karmen, 2019).

Proxy Stalking

The word "stalking" was officially coined and added into the dictionary in the 1980s. The simplest definition of the word is "pattern on behavior that would cause another person to feel fear". It may start out with non-criminal and non-harmful acts, and later turn into violent attacks (Karmen, 2019).

Proxy stalking is also a series of acts carried out against another person. The acts are carried out on behalf of the perpetrator by a family member of theirs, an intimate partner, or a friend(Karmen, 2019)
