WHAT IS POLLUTION?

01. WHAT IS POLLUTION?

Pollution is the introduction of a pollutant into a natural environment that causes instability, disorder, damage or discomfort in an ecosystem, in the physical environment or in a living being.

TYPES OF POLLUTION: WATER

Water contamination occurs when harmful substances, often chemical substances or microorganisms. They contaminate a stream, a river, a lake, an ocean, an aquifer or another body of water, degrading the quality of the water and making it toxic to humans or the environment.

02. WATER POLLUTION

TYPES OF POLLUTION: AIR

Air pollution is the presence in the atmosphere of harmful substances, such as gases, particles and chemical compounds, which can have negative effects on human health, wildlife and the environment in general.

These substances can come from natural sources, such as volcanic eruptions and desert dust, or from human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels, industry, transportation and agriculture. Air pollution can cause respiratory problems, heart disease, cancer, damage to crops and acidification of soil and bodies of water.

04 AIR POLLUTION

TYPES OF POLLUTION: FROM THE FLOOR

Floor contamination refers to the presence of harmful substances or elements on the ground. These pollutants can include toxic chemicals, heavy metals, industrial waste or pesticides. Floor contamination can have adverse impacts on human health, flora, fauna and groundwater quality.

05. FLOOR POLLUTION

CAUSES

The causes of pollution are diverse and include industrial emissions, solid waste, intensive agriculture, deforestation and excessive use of natural resources. Human activity plays a fundamental role in the degradation of the environment.

06. CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES

CONSEQUENCES

The consequences are damage to the state of health of human beings, disappearance of the ozone layer, damage to ecosystems, acid rain, melting of the polar ice caps, increase in temperatures, danger of extinction of flora and fauna, large accumulations of waste and garbage, lower quality of life...

EFFECTS OF POLLUTION

The effects of pollution are diverse and can manifest themselves on human health, air, water and soil quality, as well as on ecosystems. Respiratory problems, diseases related to contaminated water, loss of biodiversity, acid rain and climate change are some of the negative impacts associated with environmental pollution. These effects can have long-term consequences on the sustainability of the planet and on the quality of life of its inhabitants.

07. EFFECTS OF POLLUTION

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

The implementation of cleaner technologies in industry.

Environmental awareness.

08. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

The promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, proper waste management.

Effective regulation and collaboration at the global level are also key to facing this challenge.

The promotion of sustainable transport.
