Creativity allows all students to participate in classroom learning. Reflection is the tool that connects the concepts to the actual learning. I can check for understanding through that reflection. Students can share their own thought processes and realizations on how they learned the concepts. Metacognition for the win!

Critical thinking shows up in my classroom when students begin to make connections between texts, between time periods, between writing styles, between author's purposes, and between their own understand. Critical thinking is the lightbulb going on. As a result, students are more relaxed in the classroom, they are excited to come to class, and they are willing to take risks.
