On the November 17th 1978 Leo Ryan, an american representative, together with reporters and photographers, came to Jonestown to investigate the claims of abuse, the treatment of its residents and living conditions. It was also his last day alive. Openly welcomed at first, was gunned down on the airstrip, waiting for his flight back home.
November 18th.
Soldiers will come for you. They will torture you. Don't let them.
909 people died that day, toddlers, teens and adults, together with Jim Jones himself, found in a chair with a bullet wound, most likely self-inflicted. 33 survived.
symptoms are immediate, cyanide blocks respiration, convulsion, tissue hypoxia, fainting, death in the next minutes
