Wales is a mountainous region that is in the south-western part of the United Kingdom and borders England to the east, is washed to the north and west by the Irish Sea and to the south by the Bristol Channel. Major cities, including the capital Cardiff, are located along the coasts, while the interior is characterized by national parks and unspoiled nature.

The national flag consist of a red dragon on a field of white and green. The current flag has been the official flag since 1959, and is based on a old motto used by English and Bristish monarchs sicne the Tudor dinasty: on a mount vert a dragon gules. On this basis, the flag has often been thought to be the oldest national flag still in use. The flag's white and green stripes were added by the House of Tudor, the welsh dinasty that held the kingdom of England from 1485 to 1603.
