Follow these steps to ensure your laptop is all ready for Day 1

Choose the category you belong to below to follow instructions on setting up your laptop. If Future sent you a laptop choose "Future Laptop." If you are using a laptop you already own choose "Personal Laptop"

Setting up your Personal Laptop

1. Set up a New User 2. Download Apps

Start

Set up a New User Profile

We recommend creating a new user profile on your Mac to separate your personal information from your work information. This will also eliminate the need to switch between your personal and Future iCloud accounts

1. On your Mac, choose Apple Menu > System Settings, then click Users & Groups in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down)
2. Click the Add User button below the list of users on the right (you may be asked to enter your laptop password)
3. Click the New User pop-up menu, and choose a type of user (We recommend choosing administrator)
4. Enter a full name for the new users. An account name is generated automatically. To use a different acccount name , enter it now - you can't change it later
5. Enter a password, re-enter the password and a password hint.
6. You can now log into your new user account by logging out of the current one. Do this by going back to the Apple Menu and choosing the last list option "Log out..."

Let's get into some of your apps and set them up! Note: You will be using your personal Apple ID to download any necessary apps. Logging into the future ID will happen later Click the icons below to read more.

Password: firstname1234

If Future sent you a laptop then it is already set up with the essentials! You'll log in with your preset password, which will be your first name followed by 1234. ALL LOWERCASE Ex. heather1234

Toolbar

Your apps will be pre-downloaded for you. On the left you'll see an example of what should be in your laptop Toolbar already. You may also notice some pre-added bookmarks in your Google Chrome (we will review these bookmarks in week 1)

Slack

Slack is our primary communication channel

Download Slack Go to this link to download Slack

Login to Slack You will receive an email to your Future email inviting you to Slack. You will now be able to access slack from the icon in your toolbar. There will be future lessons for you to complete that will give you an entire overview of Slack and the channels available.

Zoom

Main video conferencing tool

Please download and install Zoom. You can use this link to take you to the Zoom download center.

After hitting "Download" follow the steps in the Zoom installer
