The moms demand act is attempting to show that the government is more worried about banning books to keep our children safe rather than banning weapons. This ad makes mothers think if it was book or a gun that was banned to keep their child protected. This ad is trying to catch the attention of mothers that are concerned for their children's safely in hope they will help make a change by fighting with them.
How does the ad work to sell the product?
This ad draws attention to violence and weapons to catch their audience. It asks the audience a question to make them stop and think.
Ad’s Audience
This ad is attempting to grab the attention of mothers that have children attending school. More specifically mothers that are concerned and worried about their children's safety.
Cultural Message
Within this ad you are able to see the diversity through the different races of students. In this ad the two children are sitting in a library where they are holding a book which seems normal due to their setting. Where as the other child is holding a gun with is not normal and draws more attention to it.
Background
The Moms Demand Action was founded by mother of five, Shannon Watts. She decided to create awareness after the tragic incident that took place in Connecticut called Sandy Hook. In 2012 there was a mass school shooting that killed 26 individuals. This act started off as a Facebook group and grew to having a chapter in every state within the United States.
