Who is César Chávez?
The "Tank Man" is a symbolic figure associated with the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 in Beijing, China. On June 5, 1989, the day after the Chinese government's violent crackdown on the pro-democracy demonstrations in Tiananmen Square. An unidentified man stood alone in front of a column of tanks leaving the square. He held shopping bags in both hands and blocked the path of the advancing tanks.The Tank Man's act of courage has left a lasting impact, symbolizing the struggle for human rights and democracy.
