Introduction

The 2030 agenda proposes a series of goals that will help to create a better world, away from poverty, hunger and inequality. Goal 17 is one of these goals, which generally unites them all.

Agenda 2030

SDG 17

SDG 17

what is it´s aim?

What is the principal purpose of the objective 17?

The principal aim of this objective is to achive all the objectives that includes the 2030 agenda. It envolves sharing knowledge, promoting technological resources, ending hunger... it pretends to strengthen the alliances between people so that all the objectives of the agenda are properly achieved, looking towards a better future.

SDG 17

what is it´s aim?

What happens if the SDG 17 is achieved? And if not?

If goal 17 of the 2030 Agenda is achieved, it would mean that significant progress has been made in building and strengthening partnerships and global collaborations to address the challenges posed by the other 16 SDGs. It would mean having a more sustainable, just and equitable world. Failure to achieve the goal would not solve environmental, social and economic problems such as poverty, inequality or climate change.

Reach the objective

Ways to achieve the 17 ODS

1. Participate, collaborate, get involved in associations, groups, NGOs, etc. that promote actions aimed at achieving sustainable development objectives.2. Demand that your government cooperates with other governments and businesses to implement the SDGs. 3. Integrate the Sustainable Development Goals into every job you do, in conversations with friends, when you plan your travels, buy food, clothes, etc. It is essential that the 2030 Agenda becomes our inspiration. 4. Participate in initiatives that promote sustainability, such as consumer groups, climate emergency alliances, trade unions, movements promoting mobility or sustainable food, etc.

Social situations

Poverty

On current trends, 575 million people will continue to live in extreme poverty and only one third of countries will have halved their national poverty levels by 2030. Despite the expansion of social protection during the COVID-19 crisis, more than 4 billion people remain unprotected. Many of the world's vulnerable groups, including the young and the elderly, are still not covered by mandatory social protection programmes.

Peace

Violent conflicts around the world, both ongoing and more recent, are derailing the world's trajectory towards peace and the achievement of Goal 16. Alarmingly, the year 2022 will see a more than 50 per cent increase in conflict-related civilian deaths, largely due to the war in Ukraine. By the end of 2022, 108.4 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide, an increase of 19 million compared to the end of 2021, and two and a half times the figure of a decade ago. In 2021, the world experienced the highest number of intentional homicides in two decades.

Gender equality

In many respects, progress has been too slow in the area of gender equality. At the current rate, it would take an estimated 300 years to end child marriage, 286 years to fill gaps in legal protection and eliminate discriminatory laws, 140 years for women to be equally represented in positions of power and leadership in the workplace, and 47 years to achieve equal representation in national parliaments.Almost half of married women have no decision-making power over their sexual and reproductive health and rights. In the last two decades, insufficient progress has been made in reducing intimate partner violence.

Climate action

The unprecedented rise in sea levels poses a serious threat to hundreds of millions of people.Rising sea levels can aggravate coastal erosion, worsen the quality of drinking and irrigation water, damage historical and artistic heritage, affect transport and economic activity in cities, and submerge farmland, natural sites, homes and even settlements. So far, there has been no response to young people's demand for climate change education in the world. Although 95% of teachers recognize the importance of teaching students the seriousness of climate change, only a third can equally explain the effects of climate change in their region.
