- presentation + group discussion. Students who have been abroad hold a presentation on their experiences. They receive clear guiding questions in advance. In addition, they participate in a group discussion with all the outgoing exchange students and engage in a critical debate on what they have learnt, what this means for their study at home, and their professional conduct.

- e-portfolio. This is a tool students use to reflect on their participation in cultural activities in their host country, to identify real problems in the host country and think of possible solutions, ... . A comprehensive and well-organised portfolio can map the students' personal growth and learning process during the exchange;

Practical Examples
This is the 'traditional' mobility, during which students take part of their study programme at a (non-Flemish) partner institution. The course units in the exchange programme are a recognised part of the student's curriculum at Ghent University. Despite the many exchange opportunities that exist today, this type of mobility is still colloquially called 'going on Erasmus'. Student mobility is an excellent opportunity for personal growth, for brushing up on one's language skills, and to hone one's international and intercultural competencies.
Intensity
For the more organisational details, please get in touch with the FCI staff at your faculty. They have experience in abundance. Ask students to prepare for their upcoming intercultural experience, preferably within the curriculum. For example: students go through a preparatory online learning pathway to learn about the intercultural/international context.

What?
Credit Mobility for Students
An exchange programme involves the transfer of credits from one education institution to another. These credits usually encompass disciplinary knowledge, but may also include the international experience an sich as a learning opportunity for the student. This means that the students can certainly reflect on that learning opportunity, but also that they can be assessed, provided that the intended learning outcomes are well-defined.

This is a tool students use to reflect on their participation in cultural activities in their host country, to identify real problems in the host country and think of possible solutions, ... . A comprehensive and well-organised portfolio can map the students' personal growth and learning process during the exchange;

How?
Internationalisation Abroad
Credit Mobility for Students
Due to practical/organisational considerations, the exchange window at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences coincides with the Master's dissertation window, i.e the second term of the first Master's year. This is the case for the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Care and the Master of Science in Drug Development. Usually, our students participate in an on-going research project at the host institution. The research they conduct must be reported in the form of a Master's dissertation (cf. the research work placement).

Credit Mobility for Students
In the Applied Language Studies/ Translation, Interpreting, Multilingual Communication programme, we chose to embed international mobility in the curriculum. There is also an alternative curriculum for students who cannot or do not wish to participate. There is support for the students prior to, during, and after their stay abroad.
Credit Mobility for Students
Third-year students of Biochemistry and Biotechnology are given the opportunity to spend the second term of their academic year abroad. Among the possible destinations is (and has been for several years) Ghent University Global Campus (GUGC) in South-Korea. From the 2024-2025 academic year onwards, it will also be possible to study at the University of Tartu and the University of Groningen.
