FUTURE TENSE: INTRODUCTION

In inglese esistono diversi tipi di "futuro". Abbiamo già visto il Present Continuous che traduce il PLANNED FUTURE (futuro programmato). Quelli che andremo a vedere nelle prossime lezioni saranno altri due:

  • To be going to
  • Will

Quando si usa...

Si vuole indicare l'intenzione di compiere un'azione e un'azioneimmenente che ci si aspetta che avvenga o sta per avvenire.Es: It's cloudy: it's going to rain again.Es: I'm going to buy Elizabeth a present for her B-Day.

Quando NON si usa...

ATTENZIONE: È preferibile NON usare questa forma con i verbi di movimento come:

  • to go
  • to come.
In questi casi si predilige l'uso del Present Continuous

  • FORMA AFFERMATIVA:
Sogg.+ am/is/are (anche nella loro forma contratta)+ going to + verbo alla forma base
  • Es: I'm going to leave for France tomorrow.
  • FORMA NEGATIVA:
Sogg.+ am/is/are + NOT (anche nella loro forma contratta) + going to + verbo alla forma base Es: I'm not going to leave for France tomorrow

FUTURE TENSE: TO BE GOING TO

  • FORMA INTERROGATIVA:
Am/Is/Are + Sogg.+ going to + verbo alla forma base + tutto il resto della frase + ? Es: Are you going to leave for France tomorrow?
  • FORMA INTERROGATIVA - NEGATIVA:
Am/Is/Are + NOT + Sogg.+ going to + verbo alla forma base + tutto il resto della frase + ? Es: Aren't you going to leave for France tomorrow?

Es: I am going to visit my aunt tomorrow. I'm visiting my aunt tomorrow. Entrambe sono corrette e la differenza tra loro è minima.La prima mette in evidenza l'intenzione; la seconda sottolineal'organizzazione,l'impegno personale.

FUTURE TENSE: TO BE GOING TO

Si usa il present continuous quando vi è un chiaro riferimento temporale al futuro o quando lo si comprende dal contesto. Quando non è così, siutlizza il to be going to. Es: He is having a swim tomorrow at 3.00. (futuro programmato)Es: He is going to have a swim. (intenzionalmente, nel futuro)I verbi che non reggono il present continuous, reggono il to be going to.

PASSO INDIETRO:Ricordiamoci che con i seguenti verbi:

  • Stato ( to be, to have [possesso] ,to mean, to cost);
  • Volontà (to prefer, to want, to wish);
  • Opinione (to know, to understand, to believe, to remember, to feel, to like, to hate,to love);
  • Percezione (to hear, to see, to smell, to taste);
NON SI UTILIZZA il Present Continuous
