Madeline Miller
Miller was born on July 24, 1978, in Boston and grew up in New York City and Philadelphia. Miller attended Brown University, completing both a bachelor's and master's degree in Classics . She has said that the scene in the play which shows Patroclus death sparked her interest in telling his story and pushed her to start writing. She already had a deep interest in Greek mythology and classics and while working as a teacher, Miller continued work on her novel. She is a feminist and she has also fought for womens rights afferming that: <<Humiliated womens seems to be the favourite entertainment form of poets. Almost no history can exist without us crawling back or crying..>>

Characters
The main characters are Achilles and Patroclus. Achilles is a legendary hero of the greek mitology, protagonist of the Trojan war. Thetis, when Achilles was born, plunged him into the river Styx, to make him invulnerable, keeping him by the rearfoot making him vulnerable only there and ended up dying because of Paris stabbed right into his rearfoot. Patroclus, an important character of the Trojan war, took place in the war by replacing Achilles by stealing his weapons, but ended up dying because of Hector but Achilles revenged him by killing Hector himself.
Plot
"The Song of Achilles" is a novel which talks about the story of Achilles and Patroclus, from the exile of Patroclus as a teenager to the meeting with Achilles, and then narrates the training of the two with the centaur Chiron, the love that borns between the two princes, the Trojan War and finally the death and subsequently the meeting in Hades of the two heroes.
