DSEAR - Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations
The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations 2002, were implimented to ensure employers and employees follow the rules and regulations stated in the documentation, when working with or around substances which could cause fires or explosions within the workplace.
What do you need to do?
The personel responsible for health & safety within your company need to gain knowledge of DSEAR regulations and ensure your company fall within the guidelines. Depending on the amount of R290 product you will be storing or installing within your premisses, you may need to invite a DSEAR expert along to carry out a full survey of your premises. The DSEAR expert will advise on the following:
- Any structural changes required to the storage area
- Additional mechanical devices required (fresh air supplies, air extraction etc)
- Leak detection devices needed
- Sources of ignition to be removed
- Access restrictions for the area
- Emergency proceedures incase of incident
- Precautions to be put in place to prevent incident
