Texas citizens headed to Louisiana, burning and fleeing their homes in Texas while the army retreated beyond the Colorado River due to news of the fall of the Alamo and receiving reports of Santa Anna gathering on the Rio Grande in preparation to invade and retake Texas.
Colleto Creek and the Goliad Massacre
Fannin delayed leaving Goliad. As they left the fort, they were attacked at Coleto Creek. Surrounded by General Urrea’s troops, they surrendered. The Texans were marched back to Goliad. - Mexican Victory

Fannin’s surrender at Goliad. Fannin and his 400 troops were executed by General Urrea.

Seige and the Battle of the Alamo
Travis, Bowie and Crockett chose to defend the Alamo despite Houston’s order to abandon and destroy it. They were surrounded by Santa Anna and his army of 1800.
Travis’ Letter - February 24 - envelope was marked with the defiant words "Victory or Death"; addressed "To the People of Texas and All Americans in the World";
Juan Seguin delivered William B. Travis’ Victory or Death Letter
Alamo Falls March 6, 1836. All 189 Texans were killed (600+ Mexicans were killed) Alamo Defenders List - lists all who gave their lives there
Santa Anna believed this ended the war. (Heroic leaders William Travis, Jim Bowie and Davy Crocket are all killed during the siege) - Mexican Victory.
Battle of San Antonio
Emboldened by the success at Gonzales and Goliad, Stephen F. Austin led troops into San Antonio to lay siege on the city
Mission Concepcion - October 28; led by James Fannin, Jim Bowie and Andrew Briscoe were attacked by Mexican forces near San Antonio; Texan Victory!
November 1835: Sam Houston was selected as Commander-in-Chief of the Texas Army
Grass Fight - November 26, 1835; Texans ambushed a Mexican supply train, thinking silver was on board, only to find a supply of grass for Mexican livestock. (The Texans ended up taking grass that would have been used to feed the Mexican army's horses.) The Texans’ siege on San Antonio was working. Texan Victory!
Final Battle, December 5th. Ben Milam led the attack on San Antonio, a few days later General Cos surrenders leaving Texans with feelings of victory of the war.
December 12, 1835: Sam Houston issued a proclamation to recruit a Regular Texas Army
December 30, 1835: Santa Anna and the Mexican Congress declared that all foreigners taking arms against the government should be treated as pirates and shot.

The Mexicans gave the town of Gonzales a cannon to defend from raids. But Gonzales refused to give it back. Texans Won!!
Battle of Goliad
George Collinsworth and Ben Milam were involved 50 Texan soldiers defeated 30 Mexican soldiers. Texans got supplies from battle. Texas Win!
