Analysis of the Social Determinants of Health –SDH
The structural determinants of health
combine elements of different patterns until reaching the construction of a model that reveals the existence of a sociopolitical context that generates socioeconomic inequalities that respond to a stratification referred to levels of income, education, gender, race or belonging to an ethnic group. These contexts and mechanisms of socioeconomic stratification are described as structural determinants of health or as social determinants of inequalities around health (William son, 1990 – PDSP). For the Municipality of Tunja, the following indicators were measured: proportion of population in unsatisfied basic needs, proportion of population in misery and proportion of population in overcrowding.
Conceptual Framework of Social Determinants of Health according to WHO
Measures implemented in the municipality:
Within the actions of the Collective Interventions Plan (PIC) and with support from other areas we can highlight the following:
Educational cycles, according to the methodological structure of the Community Operational Guide for Prevention, Management and Control of Acute Respiratory and Diarrheal Infections (ARI and EDA), and COVID according to guidelines established by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, to groups of at least 15 people, community leaders, ICBF mothers, or DPS programs, including delivery of educational materials.
Formation of 3 community care units for respiratory disease (UAIRAC) and acute diarrheal disease (UROC) located in priority areas, for the care of children under 5 years of age, providing basic materials on a permanent basis and ensuring compliance with the guidelines established in the "Manual for volunteers", in the format established by SESALUB aimed at the population under 5 years of age, and strengthening and follow-up visit to UROCS already formed in 2020.
