Teacher Model At the castle 44 students are at a party. Then some more students join the party. Now there are 67 students at the party. How many more students joined the party? You can use an open number line. Start at 44. Add tens until you reach 67. Next, add 3 more to reach 67. You can model it. 44+6=50 50+10=60 60+7=67

Think of a time when you had to wait in line for something you were looking forward to doing. For example: lunch, buying something at the store, going to the bathroom-haha. Why was there a long line there? *Real world experience to generate ading two-digit numbers to solve.
