THE UNITED STATES EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
The american education system has 3 levels:
- Elementary
- Primary education
- Secondary education
Normally students atend 12 grades of study over 12 calendar years of primary, elementary and secondary education, before graduating and earning a diploma, that makes them eligible for admission to higher education.
Education is mandatory until 16
The school year usually runs from early September until May or June (9 months) and is divided into "Quarters" or "Terms".
When a student enrolls in a public school a "folder" is opened for him and there's a continuous evaluation system through all grades.

is an extremely important topic in every society and it’s really common to compare the educational system from different countries.

The compulsory education is from 6 to 16 years old, and it’s split in 3 stages:

USA
The education is compulsory from 6 to 18 years old, and it’s divided in 3 stages:
Middle or Junior high school
Elementary school
High school
After...
The school year could be: half-year (late August to mid-May) or quarterly, too (end of September to end of June).
VS
Uses an alphabetical system: from “A” to “F”, being “C” the minimum passing grade. But, these marks aren’t that important for the final rating because they also consider the projects made through the year.
Are marked from 1 to 10, being 5 the minimum to pass. In addition, these qualifications are really valuable for the final rating
RATING
On practical skills and critical thinking. This is very helpful to evolve creativity and problem resolution.
On memorisation, which limits the creativity and critical thinking from its students.
FOCUS
EDUCATION
Both in the USA and Spain
Could be provided in state and private schools and through homeschooling, which is a 1.7% in the USA. Even though in Spain, homeschooling isn’t controlled legally but it isn’t forbidden either.
One thing that they have in common is the dress code, which is free as long as they wear appropriate clothes, except from private schools where students have to wear uniforms.

Starts at about 8 a.m. until 3 p.m with a break in between. Students take six one-hour classes.
Starts at about 7 a.m. and ends around 3:00 p.m. with a spare hour for lunch. Students take six one-hour classes or four 90-minute classes, with ten-minute breaks between classes.
In both high schools, extra-curricular activities and sports are scheduled after school hours.

But depending on the autonomous community there could be more public holidays.
