In 1888, there are numerous slaughterhouses and butchers in the area where chickens and other animals are slaughtered in the early hours of the morning so that it can be in the shops later in the day. There is no refrigeration, at least not in the area, so animals are slaughtered so that it can be sold as quickly as possible before it went off. It has been proved that most of the increases in violent crime rates surrounding slaughterhouses have been attributed to increases in domestic violence and child abuse. Click here to find a list of the men working in slaughterhouses in Whitechapel.
