OTTO FRISCH
He was born in Vienna, Austria on 1st October 1904 ,
He has graduated in the university of Vienna on 1926
In 1933 After Hitler ascension he moved to London and joined the faculty at Birkbeck college
In 1938, Otto Frisch and Lise Meitner learned that Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann had discovered that a neutron striking a uranium nucleus produces barium.
Frisch and Meitner hypothesized that the uranium nucleus had split in two, a process they called “fission”.
1939 Feb 11th Frisch and Meitner published a paper that explained the physics behind nuclear fission.
1940 In collaboration with Rudolf Peierls, produced the Frisch-Peierls Memorandum, setting out the process by which an atomic explosion could be generated.
1943 to 1945 Worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos as leader of the Critical Assemblies group.
1946 Moved to England and named head of the nuclear physics division of the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Harwell. 1979 September 22nd Died in Cambridge, England.
