THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT (CBD)

Midtown Manhattan in New York City is the largest central business district in the world.

Giorgia De filippis

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT (CBD)

The CBD has usually developed at the most accessible point for people surrouding the urban area to travel to. THE MAIN FEATURES : -Presence of tall buildings , caused by the high demand of expensive land . For this reason, commercial activities rent or buy a small area of land and build upward to save space and money. -Large amount of traffic -Number of people

MEDC VS LEDC

All urban areas, whether in a MEDC or an LEDC, will have a central area

-In some LEDC cities it is characterised by market functions - In MEDC cities may exist but there are mainly shops and offices at the centre

LEDC ( less economically developed countries)
MEDC ( more economically developed countries)

TASKS ( 1,2,3,4)

TASK 1 a) tall buildings, traffic, number of people, pollution b)I think the closet cbd is a shopping center near my house in Casamassima . In this shopping center you can find all types of shops , such as clothing shops , super market and atm. The only one difference respect New York is that Conad is a single building and it can't contain the same quantity of people . c) helps us to understand the quantity of buildings they have need for the all population. ( not only houses but also officices TASK 2 a) how do public services excluding the subway guarantee all rouds and timetables with cbd traffic and also with the presence of emergency services ?

b) TASK3 a)the junction is located not far from the city center, so I think that it is an excellent choice for this enquire . c) I agree with this plan. I would only change the time intervals, doing them at 8:00 a.m.-15:00 p.m. - 17:00 p.m.- and 19:00 p.m. So you can compare peak times and those with less traffic TASK4 a) In my opinion the traffic survey sheet is perfectly consistent with the enquiry b) the results of the survey can be presented trhough graphs and a final conclusion c) the final conclusion shows that the traffic flow depends on many factors such as : days and hours of the week and month of the year
