Regular Verbs

English verbs are much easier than in Spanish, because most of the verbs are regular. Regular verbs maintain the same logic of conjugation in the present and future tense, however, their changes are obvious when it comes to the past tenses.

In this case, to conjugate regular verbs in English, it is enough to add -ed at the end to form the simple past and the past participle. The difficult part is to know whether a verb is regular or irregular, as the latter do not follow any rules.

General rules in the simple past: Auxiliary: Did Affirmative Statements: 1.The verb changes to its past form (regular or irregular). 2. We do not add the auxiliary. Negative Statements: 1.We add the auxiliary and the expression "not". 2. We place the verb in its base form (without changing it). .

Questions: 1. We add the auxiliary at the beginning of the sentence. 2. If it is a "WH Question" we place the auxiliary after the wh word. 3. We place the verb in its base form (without changing it).

Examples: - John and Sophy walked to the church the last Sunday. - Peter watched the play yesterday at night. - My mom cooked pasta for me!
