European nations wanted to imperialize to expand their own resources and territories. Imperialism created a sense of competition among nations and created a sentiment of distrust. For example, if a nation needed more timber, they would imperial other nation in Africa or Asia and then take this resource from them. Imperialism also helped make WWI a global war because there were battles in some of these territories. Imperialism helped sow the seeds for war.
