The Beginning
Christopher Columbus was convinced that he could find a new trade route to india. However, it took him 6 years to convince the King and Queen of Spain to allow him to sail.
The Ships
Given 3 ships by the crown. The Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria were light, fast ships perfect for searching for new territories. However, the Santa Maria would sink after hitting reefs outside Haiti.
Trade
The Reason
For valuable goods to arrive from Asia, traders had to bring them accross massive landmasses. The route was slow, however, soon before Columbus left, a route around the horn of Africa. Yet, the King and Queen still funded his journey in hopes for newfound riches.
The Ending
Following the discover of the new worlds, a race for new colonies would soon follow. The new world would be colonized, for better or worse.

After sailing for over a month, Columbus arrived in the new world. He believed he had discovered a new trade route to India, but in realtity, he had discovered new lands settled by "Indian" tribes.

Columbus had to fight for years to raise the wealth needed to set sail for the new world. Although the King and Queen funded him, many though he might not return. The trip was a massive gamble... one that paid off.

Under the direction and funding of the Spanish Crown, Columbus sets sail in 1492. During August 3, Columbus departed for the new world, hoping to found a new trading route with Asia.
