Same as the article "a", it is used only for the singular nouns and for the plural ones it changes to some/any
It is used for nouns that start with a consonant or a silent H
And again same as the article "a" it is used for talking about an entire race or talking to a gentleman

"The" is a definite article that is used with countable and uncountable nouns
In front of singular nouns
In front of nationality adjectives
In front of ordinal numbers
In front of names of rivers, seas, oceans, mountains, but not in front of names of lakes
