The first event is held.

The Idea Blossoms

After finding a sponsor, Gables welcomes The Garden Project

Ms. Lezcano becomes the sponsor for The Garden Project.

  • Already heading the club PACE, Ms. Lezcano helps bring about a new portion of the club, focused on gardening and the spread of mindfulness.

An Idea Sprouts

As sophomores in Gables, Lucia Chico and Devine-Guzman begin their plan for The Garden Project.

Inspired by their liking for gardening and environmental awareness, the two sophomores took inspiration from their AP Human Geography class, where they learned about sustainable agriculture.

  • Taking into account their new knowledge, the two students came up with the idea to bring a garden to Gables.

Last Day as Seniors

Graduation marks Lucia Chico and Devine Guzman's parting from high school.

Graduation was held at the University of Miami's Watsco Center.

  • The Class of 2024 was celebrated and honored, reaching the end of their time as high schoolers.
  • The Gables Garden Project's plans for the future are being discussed, with Russo and Paz Chico taking the spot as number one candidates.

Second Meeting

Planting Herbs and Bromeliads

Herbs and Bromeliads

  • Students stay after school to add calming plants around the gardens.
  • Herbs are used to promote calmness and wellness.
  • Bromeliads serve as an enticing plant to observe and a pretty plant to further add personality to the garden.

Torch Officially Passed Down

Russo and Paz Chico's first day as sophomores in Gables

  • The two new co-presidents go into the new year with more responsibilities, taking on the duties of running The Garden Project.
  • Students use bricks to construct a creative spiral garden, where they will plant in later meetings.
