In the first Romeo Montague reveals to his cousin Benvolio that he is in love with Rosaline. Therefore, that same evening he goes to the Capulets' ball to meet Rosaline.
There Romeo meets Juliet and the two fall in love at first sight. Then Juliet discovers that Romeo is a Montague and therefore her enemy.
In the second act, Romeo reaches Juliet's balcony, where the two swear eternal love and decide to marry in secret. Friar Laurence helps the couple in their union, but tensions between the Montagues and the Capulets continue to grow.
O Romeo, Romeo! Why are you Romeo? Deny your father; and refuse your name: or, if you will not, bind yourself only in oath to my love, and I will no longer be a Capulet.
In the third act, Mercutio, Romeo's best friend, is killed by Tybalt, Juliet's cousin.
Romeo killed Tybalt for revenge and the prince of Verona banished him from Mantua.
In the fourth act, Juliet, in order not to marry Count Paris, takes a drug to appear dead for 42 hours.
The friar sends a messenger to Mantua to explain the situation to Romeo, but before the messenger arrives, Romeo learns that Juliet is dead and decides to return to Verona.
In the fifth act, Romeo finds Juliet's sleeping body in the family tomb. Believing her to be dead, he kisses her for the last time and
he drinks poison.
Juliet wakes up and finds Romeo's corpse next to her. She kisses her love for the last time and then stabs herself.
On Thursday morning, the two families share the same pain and realize that the price of their hostility was too high, as it led to the death of their heirs.
