• Nascita: Kiel, 8 Dicembre 1928
• Morte: Ithaca, 17 Febbraio 2012
• Soprannome: Dick
• Opera più importante: "psicologia cognitivista" scritta nel 1967
• Nel 1976 lo psicologo stesso critica la sua metafora perchè lontana dalla realtà quotidiana.

Funzioni

Lo psicologo descrive il funzionamento della mente senza sapere cosa sia realmente e quale rapporto abbia con il sistema nervoso. Il processo di elaborazione delle informazioni coordina ogni attività. Ogni processo psicologico è di tipo cognitivo. MENTE=COMPUTER

L'essere umano è considerato un soggetto pensante, che sviluppa risposte elaborate in modo attivo dalla mente.

La mente viene concepita come un sistema organizzato di meccanismi e processi e viene considerata come un sistema operativo che elabora le informazioni, accogliendo e trasmettendo dati.

Introduzione

Il cognitivismo è una prospettiva psicologica che considera la mente un'elaboratore di informazioni e ne analizza le influenze sul comportamento. Nasce tra gli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta del 900 e si presenta come un sapere trasversale.

Il cognitivismo ha avuto più esponenti, ma ricordiamo il principale: Ulric Neisser Neisser si concentra sul processo di elaborazione. Sostiene che ciascun individuo ha un insieme di schemi mentali costituito dalle proprie conoscenze ed esperienze. Questo schema di riferimento è alla base della continua interazione con il mondo esterno.
