Weather plays an important role in our daily lives

We will learn the vocabulary that we can use to talk about weather conditions

General weather conditions

Climate: the general weather conditions in an area over a long period.

Sunny: when the sun is shining brightly; clear skies and no clouds.

Cloudy: filled with clouds; it might rain.

Rainy: wet weather; precipitation in the form of water droplets.

Windy: characterized by strong winds; can be cool or warm.

Extreme weather conditions

Hurricane: a tropical storm with violent wind; can cause severe damage.

Tornado: a mobile, associated with thunderstorms.

Flood: an overflow of a large amount of water; often causes destruction.

Earthquake: shaking and vibration at the surface of the earth.

Thunderstorm: a storm with thunder and lightning; often accompanied by heavy rain.

What is the weather like in Colombia?

There are only two seasons

A dry season from December to January and July to August

A cloudy season from April to May and October to November, when usually it's sunny in the morning and cloudy/rainy in the afternoon.
