Hadrian’s wall is a defensive fortification and customs barrier.

They built roads, bridges, public baths and cities.
When did they leave Britain?
In 409 Romans left Britain
The most important cities they built are London (Londinium), Baths and all the cities whose names ends with -cester -caster, or -chester. These suffixes come from castrum, the latin name for a fortified military camp. The Romans built the first ‘London Bridge’ on the River Thames.
In 55 and 54 BC Julius Caesar (ca 65–44 BC) invaded Britain, but the real conquest
of the country began in the years 43–47 AD under Emperor Claudius (41–54 AD).
Iron was used to make weapons, and it affected trade and helped develop local independence because it was quite cheap and easily available.
Iron plough made the cultivation of the soil easier.
The hills forts were groups of houses built on the top of a hill, surrounded by banks and ditches. The people there lived in huts made of wood with thatched roofs.
They did not invade Britain, but gradually settled in the country.
They shared a similar language, religion and culture.
In 409 Romans left England because Italy was attacked by other tribes coming from the North of Europe and so the army came back to protect Italy. Emperor Honorius (393–423) withdrew his soldiers to defend Rome against Barbarian raiders. The Romanised Celts were left alone to fight against the Anglo-Saxon peoples from Germany and Scandinavia, who invaded the island in the 5th century and destroyed the Roman British towns.
Hadrian's Wall ran from the east coast to the west coast between today’s England and Scotland.
It is believed that women could choose the man they wanted to marry and have their own property.
They held their religious ceremonies in the woods and near water. These rites were performed by the Druids. The Druids were the most influential figures in Celtic society. They were priests, they administered justice and were responsible for the education of the young.
The clan was like today’s extended family.
