Characteristics: Learning is done through social interaction. Zone of proximal development - student is prepared for understanding but needs a more expert individual to scaffold information.

Characteristics: Learning is done in connection with other people building off of others ideas. Humans are social creatures and our ideas will develop and change in response to the environment and others we are around.

Characteristics: Adults learn differently than children. 5 principles: Self concept, adult learner experience, readiness to learn, orientation of learning, motivation to learn.

Role of Memory: Information is first gathered socially then commited to memory on the individual level. Also, culture determines the type of memory we develop.

Role of Memory: Adults need to make a connection to the material and apply it in order for them to remember it.

Role of Memory: Information is abundant and learners don't need to memorize everything but have more understanding when working together. Information can always be researched

How learning occurs: In groups of individuals with different levels of comprehension. Teachers scaffold curriculum to connect it to their prior knowledge.

How learning occurs: Adults need to see the purpse and reason to learn in order for it to happen. Children have an extrensic reason for learning, adults need an intrinsic reason.

How learning occurs: Technology is an important part of learning such as blogs and other online communities.

Types of learning: Reciprocal teaching where learners take turns sharing information. Teachers scaffolding information to help students master the content.

Types of learning: Group interaction and conversation. Collaboration and using online tools. Utilizing social media, and games.

Types of learning: Collaborative groups, project based learning, real life problem solving.
