The origins of fairy tales

Fairy tales originally come from Germany. The story usualy take place in the Middle ages. The genre come from the Paris salons in the 17th century (aristocratics women). These stories were a way to showcase verbal agility but also to comment on the living conditions of women. The goal was to entertain and critize royality. Fow writers popularized this genre in the 18th century, they kept the plot + characters but rewrote it to make them more acceptable.

IMAGINE THE END OF THE STORY

In class, we have (with my group) to complete the story: the teatcher gave us the 3 first picture and we have to imagine the end. We choose an story where the princess kissed a toad and develop an alergy and had pimples. But in reality, that not this end. The real end is that the eyes belong to a crocodile. So this was a distorted fairy tale .

RED RIDDING HOOD

LRRH by Graham Franciose

This picture is a painting by Graham Franciose, the characters are a wolf, the little red ridding hood. The setting ingredients are the forest, the housse in the bacground...The shadow of the wolf represent the danger of the forest. This represent the traditional fairy tale and respect the plot but this maybe can hurt the sensibility of child because the picture are dark. There are a contrast of the colors: the dark (danger) of the forest and the red (innocence)of the little girl.

Once Upon A Time is an american serie in 156 episods by Edward Kitsis ans Adam Horowitz. I think this serie would be a good addition to this chapter because the topic is the same, its regroup a lot of fairy tales from disney and its remixed to a older public, this is not for child.

Thanks!
