Halloween is a celebration observed in many countries on October 31st, the eve of the Western Christian festival of All Saints' Day.

How did Halloween come about?
Halloween originates from a Celtic festival called Samhain. Studies carried out by historians indicate that Halloween probably arose from a festival practiced by the Celts, a people who inhabited the British Isles and who practiced a pagan religion centuries before the penetration of Christianity in the region.
