CAMERA

LENSES

It’s the tool we use to define our image

  • Standard, wide-angle, telephoto, and zoom lenses: include the ability to adjust focus and iris

  • Light-tight boxes that admit controlled light only through a lens, creating a series of individual frames as film is moved into place behind the lens.
  • Influences image resolution, depth of field, and the overall visual style of the film.

Lighting

Exposure

  • Proper lighting is crucial in cinematography.
  • Cooperation with lighting department to achieve the desired mood and atmosphere for each scene of the movie

FOCUS

COLOR GRADING

  • Cinematographers must ensure that the subject of the shot is in focus.
  • They may use manual focus or autofocus systems depending on the scene's requirements.
  • To enhance or alter the colors and tones in post-production.
  • This step is essential for achieving a consistent visual style and mood throughout the film.

Elements of photography in films

Editing: The raw footage is edited to create a coherent and engaging sequence of shots. Editors ensure the visual continuity and storytelling flow. Final Output: The final edited footage is combined with audio elements and any visual effects to create the finished film.

Special Effects: practical and digital, both are used to create visual elements that cannot be achieved with traditional cinematography. Sound and Music: synchronizing sound elements, including dialogue, ambient noise, and music, which are crucial for the overall cinematic experience.
