Equal pay admendment act evolution

With hinsight the feminist movement in New Zealand can be implicated as an agent of the enforces equal paid between men and women at work and also the representation of women's in politics ( 48,3 % nowadays) with Jacinda Arden as prime minister (2017 to 2023) - we think that it is a fair amendment between women and men at work and we hope it continues.

First woman Prime Minister

The Equal Pay bill isn't only about being underpaid, it's likely the begining of women in politics. Dame Jenny Shipley was the first woman becoming Prime Minister in NZ. She's the perfect representation of women not only politics but alsos of women in leadership positions - Facts : She represented New Zealand National Party.

Trio of Pioneers

As it is, Jenny Shipley wasn't the last of her kind. Many pursued her way like Helen Clark and Jacinda Ardern in becoming Prime Minister. They gathered under the same banner in order to fight for women's right. The title of the campaign is very well found because they paved the way like trailblazers, showing that every woman is capable of great things.

It's a huge inspiration for us, young women.Showing that we can do it if we work for it

Women right to vote

Many women fought for the right to vote and Kate Sheppard was the most prominent figure among them. She settled in New Zealand in 1866 and won the right to vote for women in 1893 making New Zealand the first country in the world to gain women's right to vote.

  • Kate's face is actually on the 10 NZ Dollar Banknote.
  • First Woman to have her statue in New Zealand Parliament

Equal Pay Act

Thanks to this huge achievement that winning the right to vote for women was, things started to change. The Equal pay act is setup in order to have people being equaly paid whatever their gender in the same company.

  • In our opinion, this bill is a very instersting milestone for women's right and freedom.
