Who is?
Social workers are professionals who aim to enhance overall well-being and help meet basic and complex needs of communities and people. Social workers work with many different populations and types of people, particularly focusing on those who are vulnerable, oppressed and living in poverty.
What does he do?
The social worker carries out a social-welfare intermediation function: he is responsible for identifying the necessary services, helping people decide what to do, and concretely organizing everything. His position is that of someone who finds himself working not only between citizens and his own body, but also between citizens and other bodies, services, organizations and, often, between citizens and local communities.
The areas it deals with
Social workers are found in every facet of community life, including schools, hospitals, mental health clinics, senior centers, elected office, private practices, prisons, military, corporations, and in numerous public and private agencies.
