El lóbulo occipital se ubica posterior a los lóbulos parietal y temporal y tiene tanto una cara medial como una lateral. Este lóbulo posterior reposa sobre el tentorio, mientras que su cara medial mira la hoz del cerebro.

Es una parte del cerebro encargada de cumplir distintas funciones, como por ejemplo:

Imterpretar las imagenes.

Diferenciar colores.

Captar el movimiento.
