Design MYP
By: Ana contreras, Elena fernández-peña Kevin LAN Carlos gildeblas
This is the design MYP cycle
It represents the method designers follow or use to make products. The Design Cycle is divided in four steps:- Inquiring and Analyzing- Developing Ideas - Creating a Solution - Evaluating.
01
Inquiring and analysing
Inquiring and Analyzing is traditionally the first step of the design cycle. In this step, students will explain and justify why a problem needs a solution, and what that solution might be. This step mainly involves lots of research.

Inquiring and analysing
Inquiring and Analyzing is traditionally the first step of the design cycle. In this step, students will explain and justify why a problem needs a solution, and what that solution might be. This step mainly involves lots of research.
Inquiring and analysing
4. Summarize the analysis of the research
1. Explain and justify the need
2. Identify and prioritize the resarch
3. Analyse the range of existing products
Define the characteristics of the project or the problem and explain why you need a solution. What is the problem to be solved? Why does the problem need to be solved?
Analyze the problem and divide it in small parts and define priorities for each one
Summarize the problem, research and initial desing.
Explore existing products, produce a draft initial desing.
02
Developing ideas
Inquiring and Analyzing is traditionally the first step of the design cycle. In this step, students will explain and justify why a problem needs a solution, and what that solution might be. This step mainly involves lots of research.
Developing ideas
4. Develop planning sketches
1. Develop design ideas
2. Develop design specification
3. Present and justify the design choosen
Convert the previous ideas list into detailed list of specifications, using examples, drawings and explanations.
Develop a detailed planning diagram with requirements of the solution chosen.
Writing a list of design ideas of the solution.
Explain the solution: How it works, why we choose it and how it will solve the problem,
03
Creating the solution
Inquiring and Analyzing is traditionally the first step of the design cycle. In this step, students will explain and justify why a problem needs a solution, and what that solution might be. This step mainly involves lots of research.
Creating the solution
4. Justify changes made to plan
1. Construct a logical plan
2. Demonstrate technical skills
3. Follow plan to create a solution
Students make a plan to build the prototype of their best idea, the solution to the problem
Demonstrate excellent technical skills when making the solution
Fully justify changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution
Follow the plan to make the solution which functions as intended
04
Evaluating
Inquiring and Analyzing is traditionally the first step of the design cycle. In this step, students will explain and justify why a problem needs a solution, and what that solution might be. This step mainly involves lots of research.
Evaluating
4. Explain the impact of the solution
2. Evaluate the success of the solution
3. Explain how to improve the solution
1. Develop testing methods
Simple, relevant testing methods, which generate data, to measure the success of the solution
One way to evaluate the success of the solution is to rank how well each specification was met with a short explanation
Explain the impact –the benefit the client gains from the solution to the problem
Explain how the solution can be improved in terms of the design specifications critical to the success of the solutione
