The platypus eats small animals like worms, crabs, and mussels that live on the edges of rivers and lakes. They can spend on average 12 hours foraging for food per day! (DNRET) But when it gets cold during winter they spend most of the day hibernating! (DNRET)
Each platypus is different, some follow almost human activity patterns of sleep and awake, while some will be awake for up to 30 hours before sleeping!(Bethge et al)
