Stretch & Shrink
A stretch or shrink of a graph is a transformation performed by multiplying all of the y-coordinates by the same positive factor (not equal to 1). Multiplying by a positive number greater than 1 results in a vertical stretch. This makes a V or U shaped graph "thinner". Multiplying by a positive number between 0 and 1 (a fraction) results in a vertical shrink. This makes a V or U shaped graph "wider".
