What does it consist of?

1. What's cycle ball?

CYCLE BALL

Cycle-ball, also known as "radball" is a sport similar to football played on bicycles. The people on each team ride a fixed gear bicycle with no brakes or freewheel. The ball is controlled by the bike and the head, except when defending the goal. The cycle ball is not an Olympic sport and isn’t a mixed sex sport.

2. What is its origin?

It was created in 1893 for the american-german Nicholas Edward Kaufmann and the first championships in the world were held in 1929. The Czechoslovakians brothers Jindřich and Jan Pospíšil, they won most of the world championships with twenty victories between 1965 and 1988.

3. Where is it played?

The cycle ball is so popular in Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Japan.

4. What does it consist of?

The cycle ball is a cyclist modality where participants play in bicycles with pedals. It is an exclusively male sport, in which two teams face each other trying to score a goal in the opposing goal. It comes from football, but bicycles are used.

The International Cycling Union regulates this sport under the term "Indoor Cycling" and like the other disciplines governed by the UCI, the world champions wear the Rainbow Jersey.

The size for international competitions is 14 by 11 meters, being the goal of 2 by 2 meters. The penal area is a semicircle on the arch and supports whose marks on the ground form a cross.

According to the categories, the time of each match varies, being 2 times of 45 minutes for elite players.

The teams are made up of 2 to 4 cyclist-players, the objective is to introduce the ball into the opposit goal, usually hitting it with the front wheel. During the game only one player can be inside the penalty area and can use his hands to prevent the opposit goal, as a goalkeeper.

The ball must be between 17 and 34 centimeters in diameter and its weight must range between 500 and 600 grams.

The bike is characterized by its high handlebars to facilitate precision maneuvers, the saddle behind the rear wheel axis to facilitate wheelies. The wheels must be of equal size. If during the course of the game a player breaks his bicycle, he can change it.
