Soil

Important Middle Colonies geographic features were the coastline, inland rolling hills, large stands of forest, and a mountainous western border. The main rivers were the Hudson and the Delaware, which geographically enabled the largest Middle Colony cities of New York and Philadelphia to send out exports and take in imports.

Middle Colonies soil was glacial soil that had a lot of minerals that helped crops thrive. The soil was better than in New England, which had rocky soil.

The Middle Colonies had cold winters (10-25 F) and hot summers (84-99 F). The region has a notably milder winter than the New England Colonies to the north did.
