How to use this!

Hi Professor Ware! We are defintely visual learners and this seemed like the best way to explain the locations of words. Click on each blue circle to learn about why we grouped certain words or the flow of categories. Simply, X out of the pop ups to select a new button! Please let us know if you are having trouble using this, we'd be happy to help!

We chose to put pronouns to the far left of the board. This is because the sentences we are modeling with Mark follow the basic subject + verb + object structure (I want Play Doh). It also aligns with early literacy skills where, when reading English, we read from left to right.

In the bottom left corner, we placed no, yes, and don't/not. This place was selected so that the client can quickly respond to yes/no questions with ease. The 'no' and 'don't/not' were up on either side of 'yes' so the client can more easily select between the two.

Underneath school and home terms are fringe words that are activities or items that he often uses in BOTH settings like Play doh, books, blocks, and bathroom.

We chose to create a line of urgent words, like don't/not, hurt, and stop. Grouping the 'red' words will allow the client to find them more easily.

Here, we chose to group school related nouns together beginning with teacher so that the line of people (I, me, mom, dad, friend) flow into eachother nicely.

Adjectives went in the bottom right! We kept similar concepts stacked like big/little, all/some, and clean/dirty. These are also words that tend to be used at the end of a sentence to decsribe a noun (ex. I want big bubbles)

Next to I, me, and you, we chose to place other important/frequent people in Mark's life like his mom, dad, and 'friend' because these are also ways Mark can start a sentence following the subject + verb +object sentence format.

Some common feelings/emotions were added to the far right of the board because that often show up at the end of a sentence (ex. I feel happy)

Next to pronouns, we placed verbs (seen in green). We arranged the verbs based on most used by column. In the first column, there are words like is, am, are, can, and do. Next, there is want, have, like, help and so on.
