Past continuous vs past simple
Past continuous VS past simple
We use the past simple to talk about an action or situation in the past that finished and is over
We often use the past continuous to talk about an action that was in progresswhen another action happened
He walked home yesterday (=a finished action)
He was walking home at 5:00pm yesterday (=an action that was in progress when another action happened)
He was swimming across the river when a crocodile atacked him
A crocodile atacked him while he was swimming
We usually use WHILE before a past continuous verb and WHEN before a past simple verb
While he was biking across de desert, he had an accident
He was biking across the desert when he had an accident
We usually use WHILE before a past continuous verb and WHEN before a past simple verb
