It starts here !
At Verallia, as experts in the design, manufacture and recycling of glass packaging for beverages and food, our quality management system is the platform we use globally to ensure food safety and compliance with quality standards. Compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements for quality and food safety, including those mutually agreed with customers, is essential to ensure a sustainable culture of quality and food safety. And it is through the implementation, certification and continuous improvement of effective quality and food safety management systems that we are working towards this. But what does food safety mean to Verallia, how is it included in our quality management system and why is it at the heart of our quality strategy "Towards 0 critical issues“ ? This e-learning was built with the Verallia food safety network to provide the answers.
Enjoy it!

Breakages in the final market
In 2015, a wine club has recalled more than 15,000 bottles of its own label Prosecco after some shattered in customers' wine racks.
A total of 15,313 bottles - costing a total of 145,473 pounds - are involved. The Prosecco has been temporarily withdrawn from the company's website.
Ewan Murray, of The Wine Society, said the wine had been recalled 'in the interests of safety', but added that the society had received only five reports of bottles shattering in members' wine racks. There had been no reports of anybody being injured.
The Food Standards Agency issued a product recall notice and advised customers to not drink the wine.
Up to you!
In this case, what do you think happened?
If the problem is proven to be the fault of the bottle manufacturer, what could be the consequences in this kind of situations?
What should have been done if the problem was on the bottle to avoid its apparition ?
You are the producer of the incriminated bottles, what should be your reaction in this case?
Our point of view
Implementing an efficient Quality Management System that strives to avoid Food Safety risks is fundamental.
In Verallia’s sites, the respect of quality standards and procedures must ensure the minimizing of such risk and potential consequences. You could note, in this case, that the stakes of incidents for consumers could be serious.
Fortunately, no one was hurt here, and this is exactly what we have to pursue in our day to day activity. Now, let’s dive into the heart of the subject together!
